curious asked:

i just finished my undergraduate bachellor of business administration degree in finance & economics. i would like to pursue an mba or phd in 2 years (after gaining some market experience). any advice? can i apply straight to the phd program? what are the steps? any exams? how to study? how many years do i have to study to get a phd in finance? what are best schools and what are the costs (per annum). are there any scholarships available? i am a very good student with a gpa of 3.7 (A-), and i live in chicago. any advice would be greatly appreciated. is it even worthwhile to pursue a phd? please provide as much information as possible (include a link, if you can).

Usually a doctorate is necessary if you are going to do research or teach in an academic environment. Other than that, probably not enough reward for the time investment.
