its not unfair. your 16 and responsible for what you check out. so expect your mom to pay it if you dont have a job. thats the way the real world works. :)

Pay the fine. It shouldn’t be that much. Consider it as a lesson learned.

Not unfair. Welcome to the wonderful world of responsibility!

Buck up, pay the fine and count it as a lesson learned.

By the way, this isn’t IM. Punctuation and proper grammer helps A LOT.

Edit: spoken like a true teenager! Blame others for your situation and deflect nearly everyone’s advice that has said to pay the fine and move on.

I admit the punctuation/grammer comment wasn’t necessary and I apologize for going off-topic. However, you asked the question. You should be prepared for any and all responses, whatever they may be.

Talk to the librarian. Explain the situation. Explain how you were young then… merely 15 when this situation started and how little you understood about the library and importance of education. Describe how you’ve matured since then into a man. Explain how according to their own rules you wouldn’t be liable as a 15 year old to pay a fine ,,if that doesn’t work then offer to pay a fine only for the portion the book was missing during which you were 16. if the book was out for 12 months and you were 16 for a month pay 1/12th the fine.

Promise not to do it again…. and respect the fact that other people may want the books you take out of the library.

Take this opportunity to learn that you are responsible for your own actions. Pay the overdue fine and move on.

Also, you are at the age where you can get ahead of the pack. By learning how to build a long term and positive relationship with a large major national bank. This will help you in the future…believe me. Always pay your bills on time and keep your account balances low.

hi, i once had a overdue book for eight months (moved house it got lost in transit) so i know what you feel like.

Anyway the point is you were nearer 16 than 15 when the book was collected right? so they will probably treat you like an adult.

At the end of the day 7.00 is nothing. Just pay it and make sure that you keep an eye on return dates.
