idvinexpnai asked:

I interviewed with Credit Suisse and Wachovia Securities earlier this week and received positive feedback from both. Credit Suisse is in the process of checking my references and Wachovia Securities would like to set up a second interview with me. Credit Suisse is a temp position with possible a possible permanent position at the end of the contract (Nov), is a TEAM environment, which I enjoy, and the interviewers (who are the people I will be working with) were great people who I automatically clicked with. Wachovia, on the otherhand, is a permanent position which has benefits BUT thing is, the Financial Advisor has a bad rep with the branch. The receptionist even told me that she was a ‘tough one’. My first interview with her was 2.5 hours long and I was overwhelmed by her expectations in an assistant, yet alone, I’m scared to death of ‘what if I don’t meet her expectations?’.
I don’t know what opportunity to take? HELP PLEASE?
I know that I shouldn’t be scared and that I’ll get no where if I chicken out on everything but I had such a bad experience at my last job that I can’t seem to shake it off. I don’t want to end up with a job that I’ll regret later. Like for instance, what if I take the Wachovia job and find out that I can’t handle her.

Any opinions will do!

Thanks!

Financial Guru asked:

I am a recent graduate of a tier three school, with a degree in finance. I currently have no experience, so I am basically in the entry level status. Anyways, I would love to pursue an analyst position or possibly get involved with budgeting/forecasting. I guess you could say those are my goals. I still havent truly decided what I want to do. I have interviewed and thought about some possible jobs, I just dont know what is going to get me the experience I need. I dont want dead end experience.

Work in Retail Banking – I have purused personal banker positions, but most are telling me to start out as a teller!

Work in Mortgage Origination – this is with a bank that specializes in mortgages (Indymac Bank) Offered me a position, but its hourly.

Basically im trying to get a job thats not necessarily glamorous paying the big bucks, but instead allows me to develop good work ethic, with the possibility to learn and grown and mold myself into a essential player in society!

teckno2000 asked:

I just moved to New York and feel like I am hitting a wall when it comes to career search. I dont really know anyone so it is hard making connections.

Here is my bio. I have a bachelor’s degree in English from UC Berkeley (crappy GPA though), and a masters degree in Taxation from Golden Gate University. I have almost no work experience, aside from working at a CPA firm for 4 months this past spring.

I am very interested in a career in finance because I love investing and doing research about companies, investment opportunities, etc. My dream job would be working in a Hedge Fund or another investment firm. Can anyone point me in the right direction? What experiences do I need to work at a hedge fund? Where should I work to gain those experiences. Any and all advice is appreciated.
